Risk warning: CFDs are complex instruments and come with a high risk of losing money rapidly due to leverage. Most retail investor accounts lose money when trading CFDs. Consider whether you understand how CFDs work and whether you can afford to take the high risk of losing your money. Nothing on this site is financial advice.

Offshore Mauritius entity, several regulator warnings, and VT Markets' own pages contradicting each other on deposit, leverage and bonus terms

How this review was made: we analysed VT Markets’ help centre, Client Agreement (December 2025 version), regulation page and regulator publications as of 1 October 2026. This edition does not yet include our own live-account measurements; they will be added in a later update. Where VT Markets’ own sources disagree, we say so instead of picking one number.

  • Cent accounts on MT5 for very small trading size

Cons

  • Offshore entity: no FCA, ASIC or CySEC retail protection, and no compensation scheme
  • Regulator warnings from the FCA, CONSOB, CNMV, the Danish FSA and Canadian regulators
  • Contradictory terms across its own pages on minimum deposit, leverage, stop-out and bonus withdrawals
  • Negative balance protection is discretionary under the Client Agreement
  • Client money may be pooled, VT Markets may keep the interest and may use it for margining with its counterparties
  • Withdrawals are subject to review and VT Markets can delay or refuse them

Is VT Markets safe and legit?

Short answer: VT Markets is a long-running broker with an FSC Mauritius licence, but it is an offshore firm, several regulators have warned the public about it, and its documents give it wide discretion over client funds. Treat it as higher risk than a broker regulated by the FCA or ASIC for retail clients. For the full breakdown, see our guide to whether VT Markets is legit.

VT Markets entities and regulators

Which VT Markets company holds your account: VT Markets Limited (FSC Mauritius) for international clients, plus FSCA intermediary, UAE promotion branch and unlicensed Cyprus payment agent

Entity Regulator Reference Role as stated by VT Markets
VT Markets Limited FSC Mauritius Licence GB23202269 Counterparty. Clients contract with this entity only
VT Markets (Pty) Ltd FSCA (South Africa) FSP 50865 Intermediary under the FAIS Act, not the product provider
VT Markets (Pty) Ltd, Dubai Branch UAE CMA (formerly SCA), Category 5 20200000299 Introduction and promotion only, cannot execute trades
VTMarkets Ltd (Cyprus) Not licensed HE436466 Payment agent only

What this means in practice:

  • Clause 1.1(e) of the Client Agreement says that by opening an account you contract with VT Markets Limited, a Mauritius entity, and not with any other VT Markets company. Governing law is Mauritian. (source)
  • We found no current ASIC, CySEC or FSA Seychelles licence, and Australia and Cyprus appear on the restricted list. We could not check the FSC and FSCA public registers directly, so the licence numbers come from VT Markets’ own documents. Check them yourself before depositing.
  • Segregation: the help centre says client funds are held separately. The Client Agreement (clause 2.7) adds that segregation does not fully protect against loss, that funds may be commingled, that VT Markets may retain interest, and that it may use the segregated funds to manage dealings with its counterparties, including margining.
  • VT Markets describes a Lloyd’s of London policy of up to $1,000,000 per account that pays only on broker insolvency (source). We did not see the policy certificate, so its exact terms are unverified.
  • The Financial Commission compensation fund covers up to €20,000 per client under its own terms (source). The Financial Commission is a private dispute body, not a regulator, and we could not confirm which VT Markets entity is the member.

Regulator warnings

These are public warnings, not findings that VT Markets broke the law.

  • UK FCA: lists VT Markets (vtmarkets.com) as not authorised by the FCA, first published 21 June 2023 and updated 2 September 2025 (FCA). The dates come from search listings because the page blocked our fetch, so re-check on the FCA site.
  • Italy CONSOB: Resolution no. 23566 of 21 May 2025 ordered the blocking of vtmarkets.com and related websites (CONSOB).
  • Spain CNMV: a warning dated 7 October 2024 says vtmarkets.net/es is not authorised to provide investment services.
  • Denmark: the Danish FSA published a warning on 30 September 2024 (DFSA).
  • Canada: the British Columbia Securities Commission added VT Markets to its Investment Caution List on 30 April 2024, saying it accepts BC residents without being registered (BCSC).

Who is behind VT Markets?

VT Markets’ current official pages do not name a parent company. A client agreement titled “Vantage International Group Limited (Trading under VT Markets)”, dated 2020, was once hosted on the VT Markets domain, which suggests an earlier link to the Vantage group. The file can no longer be downloaded and VT Markets does not state its current ownership, so we cannot confirm the relationship today.

How VT Markets makes money

The Client Agreement describes VT Markets Limited as the counterparty to your trades. You pay through spreads, commissions, swaps and fees, and VT Markets may profit when you lose.

Trust verdict

VT Markets is a long-running broker with an offshore licence and some protections on paper. Regulator warnings in several countries, wide discretion over client funds and contradictory published terms mean it should not be treated as equivalent to a UK or Australian retail account.

VT Markets account types

VT Markets account types compared: Standard STP, RAW ECN, PRO ECN and Cent by commission and minimum deposit VT Markets live accounts side by side.

Standard STP RAW ECN PRO ECN Cent
Minimum deposit $100 (50 units per help centre) $100 (50 units per help centre) No fixed minimum; upgrade rules apply $10 or $50 (pages differ)

Platforms MT4, MT5, app, web MT4, MT5, app, web MT5 only MT5 only

PRO ECN is an upgrade, not a direct sign-up. VT Markets says you qualify with at least 5 closed trades and $500,000 notional in any 30 days within 90 days, or with a balance above $10,000 plus one closed trade. Cent accounts cover forex, gold, silver and oil only. Swap-free accounts may pay an administration fee instead of swaps, and the Client Agreement lets VT Markets revoke swap-free status. For the full upgrade rules, Cent account limits and a cost comparison, see our VT Markets account types guide.

Which VT Markets account should you choose?

  • Beginner: start on a demo, then a small Standard STP or Cent account with low leverage.
  • Scalper or EA trader: compare RAW ECN total cost (spread plus $6 round-turn commission) with Standard STP.
  • Large or high-volume trader: check the PRO ECN upgrade rules.

Fees

  • Commission: RAW ECN $6 per lot round turn. Commodities $2 per lot round turn. UK and EU share CFDs 0.1% per side. Hong Kong shares 0.25% per side (minimum HKD 50). The help centre contradicts itself on commissions for some indices, so check the live page
  • Swaps: apply on overnight positions. The Client Agreement allows a transaction fee of up to 10% on the swap amount
  • Deposits: no handling fee from VT Markets, though your bank may charge (source)
  • Withdrawals: the first bank wire each month is free, then a fixed fee equivalent to $20. Skrill is 1% and Neteller 2%. The minimum withdrawal is typically 40 units (source)
  • Currency conversion: the Client Agreement says VT Markets charges no fee on conversions
  • Inactivity: we found no inactivity fee in the help centre or Client Agreement, though there is no explicit statement either. Dormant accounts with a very small balance are archived after 90 days and cannot be reactivated

For share CFD charges, swap mark-ups and worked cost examples, see our VT Markets fees guide.

Leverage, margin call and stop out

VT Markets’ pages disagree on maximum leverage:

  • The help centre says the default is 500:1, typically adjustable between 100:1 and 500:1, and that leverage can reach 2000:1 in eligible countries. By instrument: forex and gold up to 1000:1, oil and indices 500:1, silver 100:1 and share CFDs 20:1 or 33:1 (source).
  • The accounts overview says up to 1000:1, while the Standard STP, RAW ECN and forex pages say up to 500:1.
  • We found no table of maximum leverage by entity.
  • Dynamic leverage can apply around news, session opens and volatility.

The help centre gives a 50% margin call and a 20% stop out. The Client Agreement, in contrast, says margin call mode may start below 100% and that VT Markets may close positions once the margin level reaches 50%, and it reserves the right to change these thresholds without notice. Assume the stricter reading. Leverage caps by instrument, dynamic leverage and margin examples are in our VT Markets leverage guide.

Our advice

Leverage does not improve your strategy. It only changes how fast losses hit your account. Beginners should stay far below the maximum. Use our lot size calculator to size trades from the amount you can afford to lose.

Negative balance protection: the help centre says negative balances are reset automatically. The Client Agreement says VT Markets “may” credit the account, limits it to Private Clients, excludes abnormal market movements and allows set-off against other accounts (source).

Deposits and withdrawals

Method Withdrawal time (after approval)
Card 3–7 working days
Local bank transfer 1–3 working days
International wire 3–7 working days
E-wallet 1–3 working days
Crypto 1–3 working days

Methods vary by country and are shown in your client portal. Third-party deposits are not allowed. Clause 2.6(e) of the Client Agreement says all withdrawals are subject to review and approval, and VT Markets may delay, restrict or refuse them, including during volatile markets.

Platforms, copy trading and demo

  • Platforms: MT4, MT5, the VT Markets app (iOS and Android) and web trading
  • Copy trading: built into the app and client portal from $10. Signal providers may charge performance fees. VTrade is a separate social trading platform, and PAMM accounts also exist. New to the idea? Read what copy trading is first.
  • TradingView: we could not confirm support, because the English TradingView page returns an error
  • Instruments: VT Markets says “more than 1,000” CFDs, including 60+ forex pairs (another page says 40+), 30 indices, 800+ share CFDs, 50+ ETFs and 7 bonds

Bonuses and loyalty

A promotion page advertises a 20% boost on every deposit, up to $10,000 per deposit, and a welcome bonus of up to 50% on a first deposit. It says deposit bonuses are not directly withdrawable until you meet a trading-volume condition. The help centre says credit bonuses cannot be withdrawn and serve only as extra margin, and that bonus credit is removed when you withdraw or transfer funds (source). We could not find the full terms or eligible regions.

The ClubBleu loyalty programme is free and has four tiers, with rewards such as loss-recovery vouchers and profit boosters. They cannot be exchanged for cash.

Bonuses are marketing, not free money. Read the terms before you opt in, because bonus credit can change how margin and withdrawals work. Skipping the bonus is always allowed.

Is VT Markets available in my country?

The help centre lists the United States, North Korea, Iran, Singapore, Hong Kong, Australia, American Samoa, Guam, Puerto Rico, Northern Mariana Islands, US Virgin Islands, Taiwan, Cyprus and Cuba as restricted, and says the list is not exhaustive (source). The website footer also names India and Russia, plus any FATF-listed or sanctioned jurisdiction. The UK, the rest of the EU, Canada and Israel are not named in the sources we found, so VT Markets’ official position for those residents is unclear. Given the regulator warnings above, check your local regulator before registering.

India: VT Markets’ own footer says it does not serve India, and it is named on the RBI Alert List of unauthorised forex platforms (entry 41, updated 19 November 2025). Under FEMA, Indian residents may trade forex only in permitted currency pairs through RBI-authorised persons, recognised Indian exchanges or RBI-authorised platforms. If you are in India, weigh this legal risk before opening an account.

VT Markets alternatives

If you want… Compare
A broker with a very low cent-account entry Exness review
STP and raw-spread accounts with an Australian-founded broker Vantage review
Tier-1 retail protection Brokers regulated by the FCA or ASIC for retail clients

Other broker reviews with a different entity setup: DB Investing (FSA Seychelles), FXNX (licence shown as suspended) and Genesis FX (Saint Lucia company).

Bottom line

VT Markets offers low entry deposits, commission-free STP and raw-spread accounts, no deposit fees, MT4/MT5 and built-in copy trading. The help centre is extensive.

The trade-offs are significant. International clients sit with an offshore Mauritius entity, several regulators have published warnings, the Client Agreement gives VT Markets wide discretion over withdrawals, negative balance protection and client money, and the broker’s own pages contradict each other on key numbers.

Our recommendation: only for experienced traders who accept the offshore and warning risks, verify the licence themselves, keep leverage low and risk only money they can afford to lose. Beginners should start with a demo, and anyone who needs tier-1 retail protection should compare alternatives first.

Frequently asked questions

Is VT Markets legit?

VT Markets has operated since 2015 and holds a Mauritius FSC licence (GB23202269) for VT Markets Limited, the entity that its Client Agreement says clients contract with. It has no current ASIC, FCA or CySEC licence for retail clients, and regulators in the UK, Italy, Spain, Denmark and Canada have published warnings about it. It is a licensed offshore broker, not a tier-1 regulated one.

Which VT Markets entity do international clients use?

VT Markets Limited, registered in Mauritius and licensed by the FSC. Clause 1.1(e) of its Client Agreement (December 2025 version) says you are a client of VT Markets Limited only, and not of any other VT Markets company.

What is the VT Markets minimum deposit?

VT Markets' own pages disagree. The account pages say $100, while the help centre says the standard minimum is 50 units of your account currency and can be as low as $10 depending on region and payment method.

Does VT Markets charge deposit or withdrawal fees?

VT Markets charges no handling fee on deposits. The first bank wire withdrawal each month is free and each later one costs the equivalent of $20. The help centre lists 1% for Skrill and 2% for Neteller.

What is the VT Markets RAW ECN commission?

$6 per standard lot round turn, which is $3 per side, on forex, gold, silver and oil.

What is the maximum leverage at VT Markets?

It varies. The help centre says the default is 500:1 and that leverage can reach 2000:1 in eligible countries, with forex and gold up to 1000:1. Some account pages say 500:1 and the accounts overview says 1000:1.

Does VT Markets offer negative balance protection?

The help centre says it does, with automatic resets. The Client Agreement, however, makes it discretionary, limits it to Private Clients and excludes abnormal market conditions.

Does VT Markets offer a deposit bonus?

A promotion page advertises a 20% boost on deposits, up to $10,000 per deposit, which it says is not directly withdrawable until trading volume is met. The help centre says credit bonuses cannot be withdrawn at all.

Does VT Markets accept US clients?

No. The United States, Singapore, Hong Kong, Australia, Cyprus and several other jurisdictions are listed as restricted.
