Exness Review 2026: Regulation, Fees, Accounts and Hidden Costs

Risk warning: CFDs are complex instruments and come with a high risk of losing money rapidly due to leverage. Most retail investor accounts lose money when trading CFDs. Consider whether you understand how CFDs work and whether you can afford to take the high risk of losing your money. Nothing on this site is financial advice.
- No deposit or withdrawal fees from Exness
- Cent account for small budgets
- MT4, MT5, web and mobile apps
Note for India: Exness is not authorised by the Reserve Bank of India to offer forex trading to Indian residents and appears on the RBI Alert List of unauthorised platforms. Under FEMA, Indian residents may trade forex only in permitted currency pairs, through RBI-authorised persons, recognised Indian exchanges or RBI-authorised platforms. If you open an account with an offshore broker, you do so at your own risk. RBI Alert List
Exness does not accept clients from your country, so we don't link to it here. See other brokers, and always check that a broker is authorised where you live.
Beginners starting small on the Cent account, day traders, scalpers and EA users
Swing traders holding gold or EUR/USD for days, and anyone who needs tier-1 retail protection
Offshore entity for most clients, overnight admin fees, and leverage that is easy to overuse
How this review was made: we analysed Exness’s published client terms, help-centre documentation and regulatory disclosures as of September 2026. This edition does not yet include our own live-account measurements; they will be added in a later update.

Pros
- Very low barrier to entry: the Standard Cent account lets you trade 0.01 of a standard lot per "cent lot" with a deposit of a few dollars
- Wide choice of accounts: commission-free (Standard, Pro) or raw pricing (Raw Spread, Zero)
- No deposit or withdrawal fees charged by Exness
- Negative balance protection: you cannot lose more than your account balance
- Swap-free by default on majors, gold, oil, all indices and all crypto
- Local account currencies, including NGN, KES, INR, PKR, ZAR, PHP, EGP and GHS, which reduces conversion costs in emerging markets
Cons
- Market-maker model: Exness is on the other side of your trades
- No government-backed compensation fund for most clients. The Financial Commission fund (up to €20,000) only covers unpaid dispute rulings, not insolvency
- Admin fee on overnight positions can replace the swap and be expensive (up to $25/lot on EUR/USD and $200/lot on gold per night)
- Extreme leverage is easy to misuse, especially for beginners
- No bonuses, and Copy Trading closed on 25 June 2026
- Accounts auto-archive after 3 days of inactivity (funds stay safe, but you need to reactivate) · not available in the US

Is Exness safe and legit?
Short answer: Exness is a legitimate, long-running broker (since 2008) that operates through several regulated companies. How well you are protected depends on which Exness company holds your account, and that depends on where you live.
Exness entities and regulators

| Entity | Regulator | Licence | Who it serves |
|---|---|---|---|
| Exness (SC) Ltd | FSA Seychelles | SD025 | Clients in selected countries outside the EEA |
| Exness (VG) Ltd | FSC British Virgin Islands | SIBA/L/20/1133 | Clients in selected countries outside the EEA |
| Exness B.V. | CBCS (Curaçao & Sint Maarten) | 0003LSI | Clients in selected countries outside the EEA |
| Exness ZA (Pty) Ltd | FSCA South Africa | FSP 51024 | South Africa |
| Exness (KE) Limited | CMA Kenya | 162 | Kenya |
| Exness Limited Jordan | JSC Jordan | 51905 | Jordan |
| Exness (Cy) Ltd | CySEC | 178/12 | Non-retail (professional) clients in the EEA |
| Exness (UK) Ltd | FCA | 730729 | Non-retail (professional) clients in the UK |
What this means in practice:
- Exness’s CySEC and FCA licences are strong, but according to Exness they are used for professional clients, not everyday retail traders. Don’t assume a retail account has UK or EU-level protection.
- Most retail traders worldwide are onboarded by an offshore entity (Seychelles, BVI or Curaçao). These regulators impose lighter rules than tier-1 authorities.
- Traders in Kenya sign with the CMA-regulated entity, where leverage is capped at 1:400 and Stop Out Protection is not available.
- To check your own entity, look at the footer of your Exness Personal Area or the header of your Client Agreement. Exness itself recommends this. (source)
How Exness protects client money
According to Exness (source):
- Client funds are held in segregated omnibus accounts, separate from company money
- Funds are reconciled regularly and spread across several banks where possible
- Withdrawals require a verification code sent to your registered security type
- Exness is a member of the Financial Commission, an external dispute-resolution body
- There is no government-backed compensation fund for clients. The Financial Commission runs its own compensation fund, but it only pays out, up to €20,000 per client, if Exness refuses to follow an FC ruling on a dispute. It does not cover trading losses or a broker insolvency (source)
Negative balance protection
If a stop out leaves your account below zero, Exness resets the balance to 0 automatically (source). Watch out: don’t deposit into an account while it still shows a negative balance. Wait for the reset (shown as “D-null” in your history) or open a new account. Otherwise the deposit may cover the loss.
How Exness makes money
Exness describes itself as a multi-asset market maker: its own entity is the counterparty to your trades, and it earns from spreads, commissions and swaps (source). It explicitly states that it does not offer ECN accounts. This is common among retail CFD brokers, but you should know it.
Exness is an established broker with transparent documentation and genuine client-money safeguards. However, most retail clients sit under offshore regulation with no compensation scheme, so it is not equivalent to a UK- or EU-regulated retail account.
Exness regulation by where you live
Exness is licensed in several places, but there is no single regulator for all clients. The table above lists each entity; this is the short version by client location, using the same Exness Help Center page (source).
| If you live in | Entity that serves you | Regulator | What to know |
|---|---|---|---|
| South Africa | Exness ZA (Pty) Ltd | FSCA, FSP 51024 | Local entity |
| Kenya | Exness (KE) Limited | CMA, licence 162 | Leverage capped at 1:400, no Stop Out Protection |
| Jordan | Exness Limited Jordan | JSC, licence 51905 | Local entity |
| UK or EEA, professional client | Exness (UK) Ltd or Exness (Cy) Ltd | FCA 730729 or CySEC 178/12 | Used for non-retail clients only, according to Exness |
| Most other countries | Exness (SC) Ltd, Exness (VG) Ltd or Exness B.V. | FSA Seychelles, FSC BVI or CBCS Curaçao | Offshore regulation, no government compensation fund |
Two points are easy to miss. First, a CySEC or FCA licence on the Exness website does not mean a retail trader gets that regulator’s protection. Second, the entity can differ from one client to the next, so confirm yours in the Personal Area footer or the Client Agreement header before you deposit. Residents of India should also read the RBI Alert List paragraph in the country section below: Exness is not authorised by the Reserve Bank of India to offer forex trading to Indian residents.

* Depends on region. ** Zero spread on the top 30 instruments ~95% of the day and on other instruments ~50% of the day. Spreads widen during news and rollover. *** Stop out rises to 100% during stock daily break hours. Sources: Standard · Standard Cent · Pro · Raw Spread · Zero
Which Exness account should you choose?
- Complete beginner: go with Standard Cent. A $5 deposit shows as 500 USC, and one cent lot equals 0.01 standard lot, so a mistake costs cents rather than dollars.
- Casual trader: Standard has no commission and the full instrument range.
- Scalper or news trader: compare Raw Spread and Zero. Raw has a fixed commission and ultra-low spreads. Zero has near-zero spreads on the 30 most-traded instruments, with commission varying by instrument.
- Manual trader who wants tight spreads without commission: Pro, but note it uses instant execution on most instruments, so requotes can occur.
How the commission adds up
Commission is charged on both sides of a trade (open and close), and the full amount is taken when the order opens (source).
Round-trip cost on Raw Spread (illustrative spread).
Worked example (1 standard lot of EUR/USD on Raw Spread, max commission): $3.50 open + $3.50 close = $7.00 commission, plus the spread (1 pip on EUR/USD = $10 per lot). Illustration only: if the raw spread were 0.1 pip, your total cost would be $1.00 + $7.00 = $8.00. On Standard, the same $8.00 would equal a 0.8-pip spread with no commission.
Fees
Trading fees
- Spreads: floating. Minimums range from 0.0 (Raw/Zero) to 0.3 pips (Cent)
- Commissions: only on Raw Spread and Zero (see above)
- Swaps: charged on positions held overnight, except on swap-free instruments (see below)
Non-trading fees
- Deposits and withdrawals: Exness charges no processing fee. Your bank or e-wallet might (source)
- Inactivity fee: none is listed. Instead, real MT4/MT5 accounts may be archived after 3 days without activity. Your money stays in the account, and you can reactivate it at any time (source)
- Withdrawals from accounts with no trading activity: Exness reserves the right to investigate, cancel or apply fees to them (source)
Swap-free and the overnight admin fee
This is the most misunderstood part of Exness pricing, and few reviews explain it.
1. Swap-free is on by default for these instruments (source):
- Majors: EURUSD, GBPUSD, USDJPY, AUDUSD, NZDUSD, USDCAD, USDCHF, DXY
- Many minors (e.g. GBPJPY, EURJPY, EURGBP, AUDJPY)
- Gold, silver, platinum, US and UK oil
- All cryptocurrencies and all indices
Other exotics, other metals and energies, and stocks still pay swaps.
2. Swap-free status depends on how you trade. An algorithm reviews your activity. If you regularly hold large positions overnight rather than trading mainly during the day, Exness can remove your swap-free status.
3. An admin fee may apply instead. Exness “reserves the right to apply an administration fee on overnight orders” if your trading doesn’t fit its intraday profile. The fee is charged per lot, per night (after 21:00 UTC in US summer and 22:00 UTC in winter), and can apply immediately, including to positions already open (source). Examples from Exness’s published schedule:
| Instrument | Admin fee per lot per night |
|---|---|
| NZDJPY | $1 |
| GBPUSD | $5 |
| AUDUSD, EURJPY | $10 |
| EURUSD, USDJPY, GBPJPY | $25 |
| USDCHF, USDZAR | $50 |
| Silver (XAGUSD) | $150 |
| Gold (XAUUSD), US/UK oil | $200 |
Overnight admin fee by instrument, from Exness’s published schedule.
For day traders, swap-free is a genuine advantage. For swing traders who hold gold or EUR/USD for days, these fees can quickly outweigh everything else. Read the conditions in your Personal Area before holding positions overnight.
Islamic accounts: traders registered in Islamic countries follow a separate set of swap-free rules. Exness does not guarantee that its accounts meet any particular religious requirement (source).
Leverage
Exness is known for “unlimited” leverage, but it is not available by default (source). On a real account you must meet all of these conditions:
- Account equity below $5,000
- At least 10 closed orders with a combined volume of at least 5 lots across your real accounts
- It only applies to forex majors and minors, DXY and a few other pairs, plus gold and silver
It is also capped at 1:400 for clients of the Kenyan entity.
The four conditions for unlimited leverage.
Leverage doesn't improve your strategy. It only changes how fast losses hit your account. Beginners should stay at 1:30–1:100. Use our margin calculator to see your real exposure before trading.
Deposits and withdrawals
For the full detail, see our guides to Exness withdrawal time, fees and rules and the Exness minimum deposit by account type.
- Fees: none from Exness
- Methods: depend on your country and verification status. Cards, bank transfers, e-wallets and local payment systems are shown in your Personal Area
- Processing times: vary by method and are shown in your Personal Area
- Name must match: the payment account must be in exactly the same legal name as your Exness account, or the withdrawal fails
- Card rule: withdrawing to an unverified card with no previous deposit will be rejected until the card is verified
- Maximum withdrawal = your account’s free margin
- Moving country: if you move permanently, you must register a new Exness account from your new country. If Exness doesn’t serve that country, you cannot trade (source)

Trading platforms

Useful details for active traders:
- Up to 100 real MT4 and 100 real MT5 accounts per Personal Area, so strategies are easy to separate
- Max volume per order: 200 lots during the day (07:00–20:59 GMT) and 60 lots at night
- A free VPS is available if you meet Exness’s conditions (useful for EAs)
- Stop Out Protection (not available in Kenya or with unlimited leverage) can delay stop outs in volatile markets
Bonuses, rewards and extras

Exness Rewards (loyalty cashback)
Exness Rewards is a tiered loyalty program, currently open to selected clients only. Log in to your Personal Area to see whether you have access (source).

- Earning: you get Exness Dollars (EXD, 1 EXD = 1 USD) as a personalised percentage of the spread you pay. The rate can change daily, and EXD is credited the day after a trade closes.
- Spending: when you trade with EXD in your account, you still pay the normal spread or commission, and up to 50% of that cost is converted from EXD into withdrawable cashback.
- Tiers: based on EXD earned in each personal 30-day period plus a minimum number of lifetime trading days. Tiers are checked daily; if you don’t maintain the level, you drop one tier at a time.
- Perks at higher tiers: EXD boosters, market insights, priority support and a dedicated account manager.
Rewards is a rebate on costs you already pay, not free money. Never trade more just to climb a tier: the extra spread and risk will almost always outweigh the cashback.
Free VPS for EA traders
A free Exness VPS is available if you meet balance and/or trading-volume criteria shown in your Personal Area (Exness benefits → Virtual Private Server). Servers sit near Exness’s trading servers in Amsterdam, Dubai, Seoul, Singapore, Miami and Johannesburg, so Expert Advisors keep running when your own computer is off (source).
Built-in protections
The Exness benefits page of the Personal Area shows which conditions apply to your account: Negative Balance Protection, Stop Out Protection, Zero Stop Levels and swap-free status, plus a “Savings” figure estimating what they saved you (source).
Partner programs
Exness also runs Affiliate and Introducing Broker (IB) programs that pay commissions for referring clients. These are for referrers, not a benefit for traders. We disclose how VestNorth earns money on our How we make money page.
Is Exness available in my country?
Exness does not accept US citizens or US residents: registration asks you to confirm that you are neither (source). It is also unavailable in a number of other restricted jurisdictions. The list changes, so check the Exness Help Center before registering.
Popular with traders in: Nigeria, Kenya, South Africa, India, Pakistan, Egypt, the Philippines, Malaysia, Thailand and the Gulf states. Local account currencies (NGN, KES, ZAR, INR, PKR, EGP, PHP, MYR, THB, AED, SAR…) mean no conversion on deposits.
India: Exness is not authorised by the Reserve Bank of India to offer forex trading to Indian residents, and it is named on the RBI Alert List of unauthorised forex platforms (updated 19 November 2025). Under FEMA, Indian residents may trade forex only in permitted currency pairs through RBI-authorised persons, recognised Indian exchanges or RBI-authorised platforms. If you are in India, weigh this legal risk before opening an account.

Bottom line
Exness is a large, long-established broker whose biggest strengths are its flexible account range, very low entry cost, free deposits and withdrawals, and support for local currencies across emerging markets. The Standard Cent account is one of the easiest ways for a beginner to trade real money at very small size, and Raw Spread/Zero accounts suit scalpers and EA traders.
The trade-offs are just as clear. Exness is a market maker, and most retail clients are served by offshore entities with no government compensation scheme. Extreme leverage is only a few clicks away. Swing traders should also read the overnight admin fee schedule before holding positions, because on gold or EUR/USD it can be far more expensive than a normal swap.
Our recommendation: a solid choice for intraday traders and beginners who start on the Cent account with sensible leverage. Traders who need tier-1 retail protection or hold positions for days should compare the alternatives above.

Frequently asked questions
Is Exness legit?
Yes. Exness has operated since 2008 through several regulated companies, with licences from regulators including the FSA Seychelles, FSCA (South Africa), CMA (Kenya), CySEC and the FCA. Retail clients in most countries are served by an offshore entity. Check yours in your Personal Area footer.
Is Exness regulated?
Yes, through several entities, but not by one regulator for everyone. Exness lists licences from the FSA Seychelles, FSC British Virgin Islands, CBCS Curaçao, FSCA South Africa, CMA Kenya, JSC Jordan, CySEC and the FCA. Which one applies to you depends on your country, so check your Personal Area footer.
Is Exness regulated by the FCA?
Exness (UK) Ltd holds FCA licence 730729, but according to Exness the UK and CySEC entities serve professional (non-retail) clients. Most retail clients are onboarded by an offshore entity instead.
Is Exness regulated in India?
No. Exness is not authorised by the Reserve Bank of India to offer forex trading to Indian residents and is named on the RBI Alert List of unauthorised forex platforms. Under FEMA, Indian residents may trade forex only through permitted routes, so weigh the legal risk before opening an account.
Is Exness safe?
Exness segregates client funds, offers negative balance protection and belongs to the Financial Commission. There is no government-backed compensation fund for most clients, so your protection is lower than at a UK- or EU-regulated retail broker.
What is the Exness minimum deposit?
The Standard and Standard Cent minimums depend on your payment method and country and are often just a few dollars. The Pro, Raw Spread and Zero accounts start from $200, depending on region.
Is Exness an ECN broker?
No. Exness states that it does not offer ECN accounts and operates as a market maker, acting as the counterparty to client trades.
Does Exness charge withdrawal fees?
No. Exness charges no deposit or withdrawal processing fees, but your bank or payment provider may.
Is Exness swap-free?
Swap-free is on by default for major FX pairs, gold, oil, all indices and all crypto. Exness may remove it, or charge an overnight admin fee, if you regularly hold large positions overnight.
Does Exness offer a bonus?
No. Exness says it offers no bonus of any kind: no welcome bonus, deposit bonus or trading bonus. Its loyalty program, Exness Rewards, pays cashback on trading costs and is open to selected clients only.
What is Exness Rewards?
A tiered loyalty program. You earn Exness Dollars (EXD, 1 EXD = 1 USD) as a personalised percentage of the spread you pay, move up tiers based on EXD earned in each 30-day period, and convert EXD into withdrawable cashback worth up to 50% of later trading costs. It is currently available to selected clients only.
Does Exness have copy trading?
Not any more. Exness closed all Copy Trading strategies and investments on 25 June 2026, and new strategies can no longer be created. Past history remains visible in the Personal Area.
What is the Exness admin fee?
It is a per-lot, per-night fee Exness may apply to overnight positions when trading activity doesn't fit its intraday profile. It ranges from $1 to $400 per lot depending on the instrument, for example $25 on EUR/USD and $200 on gold.
How do I get unlimited leverage on Exness?
Your account equity must be under $5,000, and you need at least 10 closed orders totalling 5 lots or more. It applies only to FX majors/minors and gold/silver, and it is not available to Kenyan clients (max 1:400).
Does Exness accept US clients?
No. When you register, Exness asks you to confirm that you are not a citizen or resident of the United States, so US citizens (wherever they live) and US residents cannot open an account.
Why was my Exness account archived?
Real MT4/MT5 accounts may be archived after 3 days without trading or balance activity. Your funds remain in the account, and you can reactivate it from your Personal Area.
