Risk warning: CFDs are complex instruments and come with a high risk of losing money rapidly due to leverage. Most retail investor accounts lose money when trading CFDs. Consider whether you understand how CFDs work and whether you can afford to take the high risk of losing your money. Nothing on this site is financial advice.

Short answer: VT Markets offers four live account types to international clients: Standard STP (no commission on forex, metals and oil, spreads from 1.2 pips), RAW ECN (spreads from 0.0 pips plus $6 per lot round turn), PRO ECN (an upgrade only, with a lower commission) and a Cent account on MT5 (USC, from $50). Standard STP and RAW ECN also come as swap-free versions. All of them are held by the same offshore entity, VT Markets Limited in Mauritius.

VT Markets accounts compared

As of October 2026, VT Markets’ accounts overview and help centre give these conditions (accounts page, commissions, PRO ECN):

Three points where VT Markets’ own sources do not line up:

  • Minimum deposit. The overview says $100, but the help centre’s general rule is 50 units of the account currency, and as low as $10 in some regions. Details are in our VT Markets minimum deposit guide.
  • PRO ECN commission. The help centre’s ECN vs PRO ECN table says $3 per round turn, while our VT Markets review recorded the website figure of “from $1 per side”. Confirm the rate in your portal after an upgrade.
  • Base currencies. The help centre lists eight accepted base currencies, adding JPY and AED to the six on the account cards (source).

The commissions article also names a VIP STP account, with no commission on forex and metals but $1 per lot round turn on indices. We found no public page explaining how to qualify for it.

Standard STP vs RAW ECN: which costs less?

The help centre lists these typical “from” spreads (source):

Pair Standard STP RAW ECN
EURUSD from 1.3 pips from 0.0 pips
GBPUSD from 1.8 pips from 0.6 pips
AUDUSD from 1.6 pips from 0.4 pips
USDJPY from 1.5 pips from 0.5 pips

Note that the account cards say Standard STP starts at 1.2 pips, while this article gives 1.3 pips on EURUSD. Spreads widen around news and in thin markets.

Illustrative cost of one standard lot (100,000 units), using the “from” spreads. One pip on a USD-quoted pair is worth $10 per standard lot:

Pair Standard STP (spread only) RAW ECN (spread + $6 commission)
EURUSD 1.3 × $10 = $13 0.0 + $6 = $6
GBPUSD 1.8 × $10 = $18 $6 + $6 = $12
AUDUSD 1.6 × $10 = $16 $4 + $6 = $10

These are best-case figures, not what every trade will cost. The useful rule: on a USD-quoted pair, the $6 commission equals 0.6 pips per lot, so RAW ECN is cheaper whenever its live spread is more than 0.6 pips tighter than Standard STP’s. Check both in MT4/MT5 before you choose. For swaps, share CFD charges and non-trading costs, see our VT Markets fees guide.

Outside forex, the two accounts price the same way: $2 per lot round turn on commodities, no commission on indices according to the commissions article, and percentage commissions on non-US share CFDs.

PRO ECN: upgrade rules

PRO ECN is not on the sign-up form. According to the help centre (source):

  • Eligible accounts: an MT5 Hedge ECN account upgrades to Hedge PRO ECN, and an MT5 swap-free account upgrades to Raw PRO ECN.
  • Activity, one of: at least 5 closed orders with $500,000 notional (lots × contract size × close price) in any 30 consecutive days within a 90-day period, or a balance above $10,000 with at least one closed order.
  • Affiliation: accounts under a CPA partner are eligible. IB accounts, and accounts under an IB, are not.

The account can be downgraded back to ECN if you join an IB, become an IB, or stop meeting the activity test (source). Clause 2.1(f) of the Client Agreement also lets VT Markets decline, delay or revoke any account type “notwithstanding that the Client may appear to have met the relevant criteria” (source). Treat PRO ECN pricing as a bonus you may lose, not a guarantee.

Cent account: small sizes, tight limits

The Cent account holds its balance in US cents (USC), so $50 shows as 5,000 USC. That makes each trade very small in dollar terms. What the help centre says:

  • MT5 only. On the MT4 sign-up page, switch to MT5 and pick a type marked “Cent” (source).
  • Limited products: forex, gold, silver and oil only, according to the accounts page.
  • Order cap: 500 open and pending orders on most MT5 Cent servers, 300 on VT3 and VT8 (source).
  • Fast archiving: a Cent account with no trading, deposits or withdrawals for 5 consecutive days and a balance of 100 USC or less is archived automatically. Standard MT5 accounts are archived only after 90 days with $1 or less (source).
  • No demo version of the Cent account.

The minimum deposit has been quoted as $10, $50 and 5,000 USC on different VT Markets pages. The overview says $50 as of October 2026.

Swap-free (Islamic) accounts

Swap-free versions of Standard STP and RAW ECN keep the same spreads and commissions but do not pay or receive overnight swaps. Instead:

  • Administration fee. Positions held overnight may be charged an administration fee. The help centre says swap-free accounts with zero administration fee exist only for qualifying clients in designated countries (source). The Key Facts Summary says the fee is made up of liquidity providers’ fees plus an internal processing fee of about 10% (source).
  • Conversion. To switch an existing account to swap-free you must ask in writing, close all positions and wait for approval (Client Agreement clause 5.5).
  • Revocation. VT Markets may revoke or cancel swap-free status without giving a reason, and may convert accounts itself.

Rules that apply to every account

  • You cannot change an account’s type, currency or server. Open an additional account instead (source). The help centre allows up to 20 live accounts (source).
  • Transfers between accounts in the same currency are free; transfers between different base currencies are not allowed, so pick the currency carefully.
  • Leverage is set per account and can be changed only with no open trades. See our VT Markets leverage guide.
  • Demo accounts offer Standard STP or RAW ECN on MT4 or MT5, up to 500:1 leverage and a virtual balance of up to 100,000.
  • Same legal entity. Whatever the account type, the Client Agreement says you are a client of VT Markets Limited, Mauritius. There is no FSCS-style compensation scheme, and negative balance protection is discretionary under the contract.

Which VT Markets account suits you?

You are… Consider Why
A beginner with $50–$100 Cent or small Standard STP Small trade sizes or no commission; simple pricing
A swing trader on majors Standard STP or RAW ECN Compare live spreads; RAW wins when spreads are wide on STP
A scalper or EA user RAW ECN Raw spreads plus a fixed commission are easier to model
A high-volume trader RAW ECN, then check PRO ECN Only if you meet the volume or $10,000 balance test and are not under an IB
Unable to pay swaps for religious reasons Swap-free version Check whether an administration fee applies in your country

Whichever account you choose, size positions so that one loss costs a small share of the balance. Our lot size calculator helps.

Is VT Markets available where you live?

VT Markets lists the United States, Singapore, Hong Kong, Australia, Cyprus and other jurisdictions as restricted, and several regulators, including the UK FCA, have published warnings about it. India: VT Markets’ own website footer names India as a restricted jurisdiction, and it is named on the RBI Alert List of unauthorised forex platforms (entry 41, updated 19 November 2025). Under FEMA, Indian residents may trade forex only in permitted currency pairs through RBI-authorised persons, recognised Indian exchanges or RBI-authorised platforms. Weigh that legal risk before opening any account. For the full safety picture, see the safety section of our review.

Bottom line

For most traders the real choice is Standard STP versus RAW ECN: compare the live spread with the 0.6-pip cost of the RAW commission on the pairs you trade. Cent suits very small, practice-sized live trading, but archives quickly when idle. PRO ECN is a discretionary upgrade, not something to plan around. Whatever you open, start small and only deposit money you can afford to lose.

Frequently asked questions

What account types does VT Markets offer?

Standard STP (no commission on forex, metals and oil), RAW ECN ($6 per lot round turn with raw spreads), PRO ECN (an upgrade for high-volume or high-balance traders) and a Cent account on MT5. Standard STP and RAW ECN also come in swap-free versions.

Which VT Markets account is best for beginners?

A Cent account or a small Standard STP account is the simplest start, because Cent trades very small sizes and Standard STP has no commission on forex, gold, silver and oil. Practise on a demo first and keep leverage low.

Is RAW ECN cheaper than Standard STP?

On EURUSD at the help centre's 'from' spreads, one standard lot costs about $13 in spread on Standard STP and about $6 in commission on RAW ECN. RAW ECN is cheaper whenever its spread is more than 0.6 pips tighter than the Standard STP spread on EURUSD.

How do I get a VT Markets PRO ECN account?

You cannot open it directly. An eligible MT5 account is upgraded if, in any 30 days within 90, it has at least 5 closed orders worth $500,000 notional, or a balance above $10,000 with one closed order. The help centre says accounts linked to an IB are not eligible.

Can I change my VT Markets account type later?

No. The help centre says you cannot change the account type, currency or server of an existing account. You open an additional account instead, up to 20 live accounts.

Does VT Markets have an Islamic account?

Yes. Swap-free versions of Standard STP and RAW ECN replace swaps with an administration fee. Swap-free accounts with zero administration fee are offered only in some countries, and the Client Agreement lets VT Markets revoke swap-free status.
