Risk warning: CFDs are complex instruments and come with a high risk of losing money rapidly due to leverage. Most retail investor accounts lose money when trading CFDs. Consider whether you understand how CFDs work and whether you can afford to take the high risk of losing your money. Nothing on this site is financial advice.

Watch out

Offshore Mauritius entity for global clients, leverage up to 2000:1, and negative balance protection that the legal documents make discretionary

Short answer: Ultima Markets is a CFD broker that says it was founded in 2016. Clients of its global website sign with Ultima Markets (Mauritius) Ltd, licensed by the FSC of Mauritius, not with its FCA-authorised UK company. All account types start from 50 USD, the ECN account charges 5 USD per lot in commission, and leverage goes up to 2000:1.

How this review was made: we read Ultima Markets’ website, its help centre, its Mauritius Client Agreement and Key Facts Summary (both dated June 2026) and regulator pages as of October 2026. We have not opened a live account, so this edition has no measured spreads or withdrawal times.

Is Ultima Markets safe and legit?

Ultima Markets runs several companies under one brand. Which one holds your money decides which regulator and which complaint route apply. For an account opened on ultimamarkets.com, the answer in the legal documents is the Mauritius company.

Ultima Markets entities and regulators

Entity Regulator Reference Role
Ultima Markets (Mauritius) Ltd FSC Mauritius Licence GB 23201593 Holds global website clients; issues the CFDs
Ultima Markets UK Limited FCA (UK) FRN 470325 UK website only; onboarding of UK clients expected in 2026
Ultima Markets (Pty) Ltd FSCA (South Africa) FSP 52497 Intermediary only, not the issuer or counterparty
Ultima Markets EU OÜ None for trading (Estonia, reg. code 17134727) n/a Payment services for group entities; no trading services

The footer of every page lists these four companies (source). The Client Agreement and Key Facts Summary, both dated June 2026, say you are entering into an agreement with Ultima Markets (Mauritius) Ltd, authorised by the FSC “as an Investment Dealer (Full-Service Dealer, excluding Underwriting)” under licence GB 23201593, and that the agreement is governed by the law of Mauritius (Client Agreement, Key Facts Summary). The help centre gives the same licence number but calls the company “Ultima Markets Ltd.” (source). The FSC’s online public register lists Ultima Markets (Mauritius) Ltd as an “Investment Dealer (Full Service Dealer excluding Underwriting)” licensed on 06/04/2023, with no annotations, as of October 2026 (FSC register). The register list does not show the licence number, so GB 23201593 comes from the broker’s own documents.

The FCA register shows Ultima Markets UK Limited, FRN 470325, with the status “Authorised” as of October 2026; its separate payment-institution permission is marked cancelled (FCA register). The FCA also names it as the genuine firm in a 2020 warning about a clone that copied its details (FCA). That firm does not hold global accounts.

What the global website tells you you do not get. A notice on the site says its international entities “are not subject to regulation by the FCA” and lists what that means: no guaranteed negative balance protection, no FCA leverage restrictions, no right to use the Financial Ombudsman Service, no Financial Services Compensation Scheme cover and no protection under the FCA Client Assets Sourcebook (source). None of the broker’s documents we read mention a Mauritius compensation scheme for clients.

Client money and extra cover

  • Segregation: the help centre says client funds are kept in a dedicated account with Equals Money UK, separate from company money (source). The Client Agreement adds that segregation “does not fully protect the Client’s money from the risk of loss” and that it may be co-mingled with other clients’ money.
  • Financial Commission: Ultima Markets is a member of this private dispute body. Its compensation fund pays up to €20,000 per client, and only when a member refuses to follow a Commission ruling. It does not cover trading losses (source).
  • Insolvency insurance: an excess-of-loss policy arranged through Willis Towers Watson and underwritten at Lloyd’s allows claims of up to US$1,000,000 per eligible client if Ultima Markets becomes insolvent. A retention may apply and the policy terms decide who is eligible (source). It is not a government compensation scheme.

How Ultima Markets makes money

The account pages describe a New York (NY4) server linked to liquidity providers through a OneZero bridge (source). The Key Facts Summary is more direct. It lists margin FX and CFDs as “products Issued by Us” and says charges “may include trading commission, a mark-up of the spread and overnight financing charges”. The South African disclosure also calls the Mauritius company the “Product Provider”. In plain terms, your contract is with Ultima Markets itself, so it is the other side of your trade unless it chooses to pass the risk on.

Trust verdict

Ultima Markets publishes its entity, licence number and legal documents clearly. Global clients, though, are covered by an FSC Mauritius licence, private dispute membership and a commercial insurance policy, which is a lower level of protection than a UK or Australian retail account.

Ultima Markets account types

Leverage Up to 2000:1 Up to 2000:1 Up to 2000:1 Up to 2000:1 Up to 2000:1

Figures come from the account comparison page (source). The help centre’s account article, last updated in August 2026, lists only the first four types and calls Standard the “STP Account” (source). The cent accounts take 5,000 cents (50 USD) as the minimum.

ECN commission, per side or round turn? The pages say “5 USD” without saying which. A footnote adds that on MT5 the commission per side for a 0.01-lot trade is $0.025, rounded to $0.03, and $0.06 round turn. Scaled to one lot, that works out to 2.50 USD per side, 5 USD round turn, although the rounding makes very small trades slightly dearer.

The Ultimate account is described as a premium MT5 account with spreads from 0.8 pips, no commission, swap-free trading and a 0% stop-out level. A 0% stop-out means positions can run until equity is almost gone, which raises the chance of losing the whole balance. We could not open the Ultimate account’s own page, so check its terms in the client portal.

Instrument count: the comparison page says 1000+ products, the Standard and ECN pages say 250+, and the help centre (updated October 2026) says “over 250 Contracts for Difference” across forex, commodities, indices, crypto and stocks (source). Treat 250+ as the safer figure until the broker aligns its pages.

Account currencies: USD, USC (US cents), GBP, CAD, AUD, EUR, SGD, NZD, HKD and JPY (source).

Which account fits which trader?

  • Beginner: a demo first, then a Standard Cent account. A 50 USD deposit shows as 5,000 cents, so position sizes stay small.
  • Frequent trader or scalper: compare ECN (0.0 pips plus 5 USD per lot) against Standard (from 1.0 pip, no commission). On EUR/USD, 1.0 pip on one standard lot is about 10 USD, so if Standard is quoting 1.0 pip, ECN is cheaper whenever its own spread is under 0.5 pips (0.5 pips is about 5 USD per lot).
  • Swap-free trader: the Ultimate account is swap-free, and Ultima Markets also offers Islamic accounts with an administration fee (see Fees).

Fees

Cost What Ultima Markets says
Account opening or maintenance None (source)
Deposits No fee from Ultima Markets; banks or intermediaries may charge
Withdrawals Free, except 20 USD for the 2nd and later international wire in the same calendar month (source)
USDT-TRC20 withdrawal 1 USD per withdrawal, deducted from the amount (source)
Share CFD transaction fee US shares 6 USD per transaction; Hong Kong 50 HKD or 0.25%, whichever is greater; Australia 0.08%, minimum 8 AUD (Key Facts Summary)
Swaps Charged or credited on positions held past 00:00 server time (source)
Swap-free admin fee Replaces swap on some exotic pairs, indices, commodities, stocks and crypto; generally none on major pairs, gold, oil and silver (source)

Two details are easy to miss. The deposits page lists crypto withdrawals as “Free”, while the newer help article (June 2026) charges 1 USD on USDT-TRC20, so expect the fee. The Key Facts Summary says the swap-free administration fee is made up of liquidity-provider fees plus “an internal processing fee (approx. 10%)”. If you plan to hold positions overnight, read how swaps work first.

Inactive accounts: an account is archived without notice if it has had no login, deposit or withdrawal for 90 days, holds less than 10 USD (100 USC on cent accounts) and has no open positions or orders (source). There is no inactivity fee in the sources we read.

Leverage, margin call and stop out

New accounts start at 500:1 and can go up to 2000:1. The maximum then depends on equity (source):

Account equity Maximum leverage
Up to 20,000 USD 2000:1
Over 20,000 to 30,000 USD 1000:1
Over 30,000 USD 500:1

Indices, shares and crypto have their own lower limits, and the lower limit always applies.

Scheduled leverage cuts. For new positions, leverage is reduced automatically from 15 minutes before to 5 minutes after major releases such as NFP, CPI and FOMC decisions, for 30 minutes after the Monday open, 30 minutes before the close Monday to Thursday, and 3 hours before the Friday close. During those windows forex drops to 1:200, gold and indices to 1:100, silver to 1:50, oil to 1:10 and other commodities to 1:5 (source). Open positions keep their leverage.

Margin call and stop out: two sets of numbers. The help centre (October 2026) says a margin call is a warning at 50% margin level and the stop-out is 20%, closing the position with the largest floating loss first (stop-out, margin call). Clause 11 of the Client Agreement (June 2026) says margin call mode starts below 100% and positions are closed at or below 50%. The help centre text is newer, but the agreement is the binding document, so ask support which levels apply to your account. Our guide to margin calls and stop outs explains the maths.

Our advice

2000:1 means a 50 USD deposit can control a position worth 100,000 USD of currency, so a small move against you can wipe out the account. Pick your position size from the amount you are willing to lose, using our lot size calculator, and keep leverage far below the maximum.

Negative balance protection: the pages disagree

  • The website says the system “will automatically detect” a negative balance “and reset the negative balance to zero”, at no cost, with a footnote: “Subject to risk assessment and approval. Terms and conditions apply.” (source)
  • The help centre says an eligible negative balance can be reset after you close all positions, that a requested reset takes about one business day, and that any credit bonus is removed after a reset (source).
  • The Client Agreement says Ultima Markets “will evaluate the inquiry and at its discretion, may credit” a negative balance caused by a market gap, and that the policy is available to Private Clients only.
  • The Key Facts Summary says: “If your account has a negative balance, you are required to fund it to return it to a zero or positive” balance.

The legal documents take priority over marketing pages, so do not treat negative balance protection as guaranteed.

Deposits and withdrawals

Method Withdrawal time Withdrawal fee
Credit/debit card 2–5 business days None
Local bank transfer 2–5 business days None
International bank wire 2–5 business days First each calendar month free, then 20 USD each
Cryptocurrency 0–2 business days 1 USD on USDT-TRC20

On the deposit side, the deposits page lists a minimum of 50 units of your account currency for most methods, with some local methods set between 15 and 200 USD. Most methods are shown as free and processed in about 1 hour, while international wires take 2–5 working days and may carry bank and intermediary fees. Available methods depend on your country and are shown in the client portal.

Sources: the deposits and withdrawals page (source) and the help centre’s withdrawal time table (source). The minimum withdrawal is 40 USD, but if your balance is below that you can withdraw all of it (source).

Rules worth knowing before you fund:

  • Withdrawals normally go back by the deposit method. Money deposited by card must be returned to that card first, and only profit above it can go elsewhere (source).
  • A first international wire withdrawal needs extra checks with a bank statement issued within the last three months. Ultima Markets says this normally takes 1 business day (source).
  • Third-party deposits can be declined and returned to the source, according to the Client Agreement.

Platforms, copy trading and demo

  • Platforms: MetaTrader 4, MetaTrader 5, WebTrader Pro and the Ultima Markets App. Cent and Ultimate accounts are MT5 only.
  • Copy trading and managed accounts: the site menu lists Copy Trading Pro, UM Social, Myfxbook and PAMM accounts. We could not open the copy trading pages, so we do not list their fees here. Our explainer on copy trading covers the general risks.
  • Hedging: allowed. You can hold a buy and a sell on the same instrument, but both positions pay spread and swap (source).
  • Demo: up to US$100,000 in virtual funds (source). Demo accounts typically expire after 90 days (source).

Bonuses

The promotions page advertises 20%, 50% and 150% deposit bonuses paid as credit, a 10 USD welcome reward and trading competitions (source). The help centre explains how the credit works (source):

  • The credit cannot be withdrawn or converted into cash. Your deposit and profits can be.
  • Withdrawing more than your profit removes part of the credit in proportion. In the help centre’s own example, a 1,000 USD withdrawal from a 2,000 USD deposit with 500 USD profit and 400 USD credit removes 100 USD of credit.
  • A withdrawal is rejected if it would push the margin level below 100%.
  • The credit can be removed without notice if it expires, if equity falls below the credit amount, after a negative balance write-off, or if you transfer funds to another account during the promotion (source).
Bonus credit does not protect you from losses. The help centre says so itself. A bonus also adds rules to every withdrawal, so read the terms before you opt in. You can always trade without one.

Is Ultima Markets available in my country?

The help centre lists 35 restricted countries and territories, last updated 30 September 2026: Afghanistan, Albania, American Samoa, Australia, Belarus, Bermuda, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Burundi, Central African Republic, Crimea, Congo, Cuba, Cyprus, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Eritrea, the former Federal Republic of Yugoslavia, Guam, Haiti, Hong Kong, Iran, ISIL (Da’esh), Al-Qaida and the Taliban, Ivory Coast, Montenegro, North Korea, Puerto Rico, Guinea-Bissau, Macedonia, Sevastopol, Sierra Leone, Singapore, South Sudan, the United States, the US Virgin Islands, Yugoslavia and Zimbabwe (source).

The website footer gives a shorter list: “the United States, United Kingdom, Singapore, Hong Kong and any jurisdictions subject to international sanctions”. The United Kingdom is not on the help centre list, but the global site sends UK residents to the separate FCA-regulated UK website.

United States: US residents cannot open an account. We do not suggest offshore brokers to US residents.

India: Ultima Markets is not named on the RBI Alert List (updated 19 November 2025). The RBI says the list is not exhaustive and that a name missing from it should not be taken as authorised. Under FEMA, Indian residents may trade forex only in permitted currency pairs through RBI-authorised persons, recognised Indian exchanges or RBI-authorised platforms, and Ultima Markets does not say it holds any Indian authorisation. If you are in India, weigh this legal risk before opening an account.

Bottom line

Ultima Markets offers four main account types from 50 USD, a cent option on MT5, an ECN account at 5 USD per lot round turn and free withdrawals apart from repeated wires and USDT-TRC20. Its help centre is detailed and dated, which makes the rules easy to check.

Protection is the weak point. Global clients sign with an FSC Mauritius company that issues the CFDs it sells, negative balance protection is discretionary in the legal documents, and the help centre and Client Agreement give different stop-out levels. The UK licence does not cover accounts opened on the global site.

If you go ahead, start on a demo, use far less leverage than 2000:1, skip the bonus unless you have read its rules, and only deposit money you can afford to lose.
